Shopological
Personalized fashion and beauty sale updates aggregator.
Shopological, originally launched as SalesGossip in 2011, is a digital platform that aggregates sales and promotional updates from fashion and beauty retailers. The company was founded by Elizabetta Camilleri and Emilio Sanz, who identified a gap in the market for a centralized source of sales information while at the London Business School's incubator. Camilleri, an avid-but-time-poor shopper, conceived the idea out of a personal need to find all the latest fashion updates and promotions in one place.
The platform provides registered members with personalized email alerts about promotions from their selected designer and high-street brands, offering them priority access to sales. Shopological aims to create a tailored "Brand Universe" for each user by understanding their spending habits and preferences. It works with over 1,400 retail brands to deliver curated content on the latest collections, trends, and offers. The business model appears to be commission-based, working with retailers to drive traffic and sales. While the service is free for consumers, the value proposition for retail partners lies in connecting them with a targeted audience of over two million registered users who have shown a clear intent to purchase.
The company was part of the Growth Builder programme and was shortlisted for the 'Most Disruptive Technology' at the Engagement & Loyalty Awards in 2016. Founder Elizabetta Camilleri was also recognized with the SMARTA100 Female Entrepreneur of the Year award. Shopological secured £1.6 million in funding from a network of angel investors to facilitate its growth and expansion.
