Shenzhen Energy and Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. (SEEE) is a state-owned enterprise specializing in solid waste disposal, established in 1997 as a subsidiary of the Shenzhen Energy Group. The company provides comprehensive services for the clean and efficient treatment of urban solid waste, along with resource utilization solutions.
SEEE's business encompasses the entire waste management lifecycle, including investment, engineering design, equipment manufacturing, construction, and operational management of environmental projects. Its services cover a wide range of waste types, such as municipal solid waste, organic solid waste, industrial and medical hazardous waste, construction debris, and municipal sludge. The company's operations also extend to waste classification, resource recycling, sanitation integration, and the treatment of industrial wastewater. A significant part of its business model involves waste-to-energy incineration for power generation, as well as providing steam, heat, and cooling. As of early 2025, the company had 51 waste-to-energy projects in various stages of development with a total daily processing capacity of 77,200 tons.
The company has achieved significant milestones, including receiving the National Quality Engineering Gold Award and the Paulson Prize for Sustainable Development. It played a key role in making Shenzhen the first super-large city in China to achieve 100% waste incineration. In March 2025, SEEE secured approximately 5 billion RMB in a strategic financing round.
