The International Sharing School (ISS) offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for students from 4 months to 18 years old. The school is part of the Sharing Education Group, which also operates Bright International School, and has campuses in Lisbon, Madeira, and the Algarve.
The institution's history began 17 years ago when a former university professor and his wife, a primary school teacher, acquired a British school. The management was later passed on to their children, four brothers who now form the Board of Directors. The first school was founded as the British School of Madeira in 1980. In 2018, the group expanded to Oeiras, Lisbon, converting a former Portuguese school into an IB-focused institution. A further expansion to the Algarve occurred in 2023 with the Bright International School. The schools are supported by the Sharing Education I and II venture capital funds, which also offer a path for Golden Visa investors.
The CEO of the group is Miguel Ladeira Santos, who has a background in Luxury Hospitality Management and Corporate Finance. His vision is to integrate a high-end customer service culture into the educational model. The school's educational philosophy is centered on the motto "Learning Through Sharing" and its core values of multiculturalism, care, and hospitality. The curriculum is student-led and project-based, with flexible learning spaces designed to encourage collaboration and creativity. In addition to the standard curriculum, ISS offers coding and robotics starting from age five. The institution serves a diverse community with over 65 nationalities represented among its students and staff.
Revenue is generated from tuition fees. The business model extends beyond education to create a community hub, offering services like gym memberships, co-working spaces, and sports facilities through partnerships with other companies.
