Founded in 2001 by Robert (Bob) J. Moulton, Seven10 Storage Software, LLC established itself as a developer of automated data management software. Moulton, who served as President and CEO, brought previous experience from roles at OTG and Smart Storage, shaping the company's direction in the data storage sector. The executive team also included Gary J. Lafreniere as COO and Adam Marcionek as Chief Architect, both of whom had prior experience at OTG and Smart Storage. A significant milestone for the company occurred in August 2020, when it was acquired by Congruity360, a data governance and classification software provider.

Seven10 operated in the database and systems software market, focusing on enterprise clients in compliance-driven industries such as healthcare, finance, government, and education. The company's business model centered on selling its software platform, Storfirst, through various pricing models, including perpetual, project-based, and subscription-based (SaaS) options. The primary offering was Storfirst, a software-defined storage platform designed to manage large quantities of unstructured data. Its core function was to unify disparate storage systems—including on-premise and cloud technologies like NAS, block, and object storage—into a single, manageable interface accessible via standard protocols like SMB and NFS.
