SeniorApp is a Polish company operating a mobile and web-based platform designed to connect senior citizens and individuals with disabilities with local service providers for everyday assistance. The company was founded in Łódź in 2020 by Igor Marczak and Przemysław Mroczek. The concept was born from the founders' personal experiences in caring for relatives and observing the challenges faced by an aging population. Marczak's experience caring for his ill mother from a young age directly influenced the mission to create a supportive tool.
The venture began after the founders won the "I have a startup idea" competition organized by the City of Łódź in 2020, which provided initial prize money. They secured their first investor in November 2020 and officially launched the platform on March 8, 2021. In February 2022, SeniorApp received a seed investment from Pracuj Ventures for an undisclosed amount. The company has received several accolades, including being a laureate in the "50 Creative in Business" ranking by BRIEF in 2021 and winning "Startup Innovation of the Year 2023."
The platform functions as a two-sided marketplace. On one side, individuals or their families can request a wide range of services, numbering nearly 30 categories. These include home services like cleaning, window washing, and handyman repairs, as well as personal assistance such as shopping, companionship, and senior care. The other side consists of verified service providers, referred to as "Guardians," who can offer their skills to earn extra income. This model addresses the need for accessible, neighborhood-based support while also activating the unemployed and creating flexible work opportunities. Revenue is generated through this service facilitation, with secure, cashless payments processed through the app. SeniorApp also engages in affiliate partnerships, offering users access to services like medical packages and teleconsultations from partners such as LUX MED.
