Select Brands operates as a house of brands, aiming to build and scale multiple direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands across various categories. The Indore-based company was founded in 2022 by brothers Agam Choudhary and Saksham Jain. The founders, who hail from a business family, leveraged their early entrepreneurial experiences, which included a successful dropshipping business and a robotics equipment venture, to establish Select Brands. Their strategy emerged from studying numerous D2C industries and identifying a market need for brands built on profitability rather than heavy capital burn.
The company's business model is centered on creating an umbrella for a diverse portfolio of D2C entities. Their first and primary brand is Kyari, launched in April 2022, which specializes in home-grown plants and gardening products like pots, soil, and fertilizers. Select Brands targets the end consumer through online channels, with a focus on capturing different market segments by launching new specialized brands. Revenue is generated through the direct sale of products from its portfolio brands to customers. The company secured INR 6.5 crore in a pre-Series A funding round in May 2024 to fuel the growth of Kyari and to launch new brands in other categories. The firm reported a revenue of ₹12.8Cr for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, with a valuation of Rs 70 crore.
Select Brands, legally known as Select Brands International Private Limited and associated with Techleads Exim Private Limited, aims to expand its portfolio to 10-12 different categories. The founders plan to allocate a significant portion of their capital to scale their existing brand, Kyari, while also investing in the development and launch of two new sub-brands. This strategy reflects their ambition to build enduring brands that create a lasting impact and cater to a wide array of consumer needs within the Indian D2C market.
