In 1988, Ravi Koka founded SEEC Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a focus on developing business application software. The company aimed to serve the insurance, healthcare, and financial services sectors by providing specialized software solutions. SEEC carved out a niche in application modernization, helping businesses update their existing systems. The company reached a major milestone in 1997 when it successfully launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on Nasdaq. This event marked a significant step for the company, and in the same year, founder Ravi Koka was recognized as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. By the early 2000s, SEEC was actively growing, acquiring Asera in 2003 to expand its capabilities. The company's journey as an independent entity came to a close in 2008 when it merged with Polaris Financial Technology. Following the merger, Ravi Koka took on the role of CTO & Partner within the new structure, continuing his work in enterprise architecture and technology.
