SEAentia is a Portuguese aquaculture company founded in 2017 that is pioneering the production of meagre (Argyrosomus regius) in a land-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS).
The company's approach addresses the growing demand for high-quality, sustainable seafood while mitigating the environmental impact of traditional aquaculture. By using RAS technology, SEAentia can control the entire production cycle, ensuring a consistent and traceable supply of meagre. This system also minimizes water consumption and waste discharge, making it a more environmentally friendly alternative to sea-based fish farming.
SEAentia is currently in the process of scaling up its production to an industrial level, having secured €16 million in funding from the Blue Fund of Indico Capital Partners and the Mar2030 Program. The company is one of the first to be based in the Peniche Ocean Technology Park, where it is developing its pilot project.
