In 1969, a company then known as Seattle Cold Storage began its journey with a single facility. For decades, it built a solid reputation in the Pacific Northwest, becoming one of the largest public refrigerated warehousing companies in the Puget Sound region. The company provided essential services like temperature-controlled storage, import/export logistics, and retail distribution for a variety of industries, from dairy to seafood. The major turning point for the company came in April 2013. Lineage Logistics, a rapidly growing warehousing and logistics company backed by Bay Grove Capital LLC, acquired the assets of SCS Refrigerated Services. This acquisition was a strategic move for Lineage, significantly increasing its footprint and helping to establish it as the second-largest refrigerated warehouse network in the world at the time. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the deal included SCS's facilities in Algona and the Port of Tacoma, Washington, which together offered 420,000 square feet of storage space. The acquisition marked the end of an era for SCS as an independent entity but integrated its operations and expertise into a much larger, national platform.
