In 2012, a player named Yoichi Tomori started an amateur team in Japan to compete in the game "Battlefield 3". He called it SCARZ, rooted in the idea of leaving a lasting impression on people's hearts. For three years, it operated as an amateur project, building a foundation within the gaming community. The playbook shifted in 2015 when the organization made the leap to become a professional esports team. To support this new professional structure, Tomori established the parent company, XENOZ Co., Ltd., in 2016, with himself as CEO. This move provided the corporate framework necessary to manage player salaries, secure sponsorships, and expand into more games. A key turning point came as the team looked beyond its domestic borders. In 2021, SCARZ initiated a major rebranding and, for the first time in Japanese esports history, acquired a European roster. This signaled a clear ambition for global competition. To power this international growth, SCARZ signed a significant partnership in 2022 with SPORTFIVE, a global sports marketing agency, to handle sponsor acquisition and partner development. Today, SCARZ is one of Japan's largest esports organizations, fielding teams in numerous titles and competing on the world stage.
