In the year 2000, three co-founders started a machine learning and natural language processing company in South Korea called Sysmeta Co., Ltd. Their goal was to develop technology that would allow people and machines to communicate and cooperate freely. For years, the company focused on securing original technologies, investing heavily in knowledge engineering, deep-learning, and voice recognition. In 2006, the company rebranded to Saltlux, a name combining 'salt' for unchanging moral values and 'lux,' representing the light of technology. As one of South Korea's pioneering AI companies, Saltlux grew steadily, expanding with offices in Vietnam, Japan, and the United States. The company developed a suite of AI services, including its advanced chatbot, Talkbot, and became known for holding a large number of AI-related patents in Korea. It secured major clients like Samsung Electronics and NH Nonghyup Bank, along with significant government projects, cementing its role in the nation's push toward a digital-first government. The company reached a major milestone in July 2020, when it announced its initial public offering (IPO) on the Kosdaq exchange. The move was intended to raise capital to further advance its AI and big data platforms to a global scale. Post-IPO, Saltlux has continued to innovate, launching its own large language model, 'LUXIA', and expanding its offerings to help other corporations adopt and integrate AI technologies into their workflows.
