RxEye AB was a Swedish IT company that provided cloud-based services for the secure and efficient remote viewing of medical images. Its core product, the RxEye Cloud service, established a network utilized by specialists in radiology, pathology, and nuclear medicine, as well as teleradiology service providers. The platform served over 2,000 users across Sweden, Norway, and France, facilitating communication and resource sharing among healthcare professionals.
In a strategic move to enhance its IT service offerings, IT and medical technology company Sectra (STO: SECT B) acquired RxEye AB on December 30, 2015. At the time of the acquisition, RxEye had six employees and annual sales of approximately SEK 7 million. The acquisition was part of Sectra's strategy to expand its internet-based service delivery model, addressing the growing demand for remote medical image viewing driven by efficiency needs and staff shortages in healthcare. Following the acquisition, RxEye was incorporated into Sectra's Imaging IT Solutions business area, leveraging Sectra's extensive customer and sales network to further develop the service and support radiologists and pathologists.
