Rundisc is an independent video game development studio based in Toulouse, France. The company was co-founded by Julien Moya and Thomas Panuel, who serve as President and General Director, respectively. The two met in 2015 and officially founded the studio in 2018, driven by a shared passion for video games.
The studio's first release was "Varion" in 2018, a local multiplayer action brawler for PC and Nintendo Switch. Moya and Panuel viewed this initial project as a training ground, allowing them to learn the process of developing and releasing a complete game. Following "Varion," Rundisc began pre-production in 2019 on their next project, which would become the critically acclaimed "Chants of Sennaar". This puzzle adventure game, inspired by the myth of the Tower of Babel, centers on deciphering ancient languages to reunite divided peoples. The gameplay involves exploration, solving puzzles by decoding glyphs, and stealth elements.
After developing a demo, Rundisc pitched "Chants of Sennaar" and secured a partnership with publisher Focus Entertainment, which financed the remainder of development. The game was released on September 5, 2023, for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One to universal acclaim, winning Best Indie Game at the 2024 New York Game Awards. In June 2024, Pullup Entertainment, the parent company of Focus Entertainment, acquired a minority stake in Rundisc, solidifying the partnership for a new, upcoming project.
