RP Global

The story of RP Global begins not in a garage, but within an Austrian bank in the mid-1980s. It started with a focus on hydropower, developing and operating dozens of small hydro plants across Europe in countries like Austria, Portugal, and Spain. This early specialization laid the groundwork for a four-decade journey in renewable energy. The company was co-founded by Jorge Eugenio Rodriguez Garcia and Igor Rescec, who serve as the company's CFO and CTO, respectively. A significant shift occurred in 2007 when RP Global expanded its portfolio to include wind energy, developing large-scale wind farms in France, Poland, and Croatia. This diversification marked a new chapter. Another pivotal moment came in 2017 when the company made a strategic decision to sell its operating assets and concentrate on the development of large-scale hydro, wind, and solar PV projects. The most transformative event in recent history happened in late 2024. RP Global secured a massive €480 million investment from Mirova, a sustainable asset management company. This major capital injection, a mix of equity and convertible bonds, made Mirova a significant minority shareholder. The deal was a game-changer, enabling RP Global to transition back to its roots as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with the aim to build and operate over 2,500 MW of solar, wind, and storage assets within the next five years. This partnership not only provided substantial financial backing but also solidified a nearly decade-long relationship between the two firms, positioning RP Global to significantly accelerate its contribution to Europe's energy transition.
