Rollout.io was established in 2014 by co-founders Erez Rusovsky (CEO) and Eyal Keren (CTO) with headquarter offices in Tel Aviv, Israel, and San Francisco. The firm specialized in feature management, targeting a clientele of developers, engineers, and product managers. The company's core offering was a software development kit (SDK) designed for mobile applications, enabling developers to remotely manage feature deployments.
This platform operated by decoupling feature deployment from version releases, a critical function for teams practicing continuous delivery. The system provided granular control, allowing for progressive rollouts, A/B testing of new functionalities, and the ability to instantly roll back features if they did not perform as expected. This functionality empowered development teams to test new code in live production environments on specific user segments, thereby minimizing the risks associated with deploying updates. By using a cloud-based dashboard, clients could toggle features on or off and target user groups without needing to go through app store approval processes for every change. The business model centered on providing this unified platform for feature delivery, experimentation, and remote configuration.
A significant milestone for Rollout.io was the launch of its ROX product in April 2017. The company secured a $2 million Series A funding round in October 2015, followed by an additional $1 million in February 2016. In June 2019, Rollout.io was acquired by CloudBees, an enterprise DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) leader. Following the acquisition, Erez Rusovsky assumed the role of product director for the Rollout offering within CloudBees. The technology is now integrated into the CloudBees platform as CloudBees Feature Management.
