Rocket Fiber

Rocket Fiber, established in 2014, emerged from the collaborative efforts of Marc Hudson, Edi Demaj, and Randy Foster. The company was conceived within the framework of Rock Ventures, a Detroit-based umbrella entity for a portfolio of companies, with the objective of delivering high-speed internet infrastructure to the city. Hudson, with his background in web development and IT, along with Demaj's experience in real estate and business development within the Rock Ventures family of companies, identified a critical need for enhanced connectivity to support Detroit's burgeoning tech scene.

The firm operates as a fiber-optic internet service provider (ISP), primarily targeting residential and business clients within Detroit. Its business model centers on providing multi-gigabit internet speeds, significantly faster than traditional cable or DSL services, through a direct fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-business network. Revenue is generated through monthly subscription fees for its internet and related services. Initially focused on downtown Detroit, the company expanded its network to serve a broader area of the city.

In a significant development, Rocket Fiber was acquired by Everstream, a Cleveland-based business-only fiber network provider, in a deal that closed in early 2020. This acquisition was aimed at integrating Rocket Fiber's Detroit network into Everstream's larger Midwest fiber infrastructure, expanding high-speed connectivity options for businesses in the region. While Rocket Fiber built its brand on serving both residential and business customers with a strong emphasis on local customer service, its operations have since been consolidated under the Everstream banner, which focuses exclusively on enterprise clients.
