Rizm

Rizm, operating under its parent company EquaMetrics Inc., was a financial software developer focused on algorithmic trading applications, founded in New York City in 2011 by Christopher Ivey. The firm secured a total of $4.5 million in capital over three seed funding rounds between May 2011 and July 2013. Its flagship product was a cloud-based platform, also named Rizm, that empowered individual traders to build, backtest, simulate, and deploy complex automated trading strategies.

A key feature of the Rizm platform was its user-friendly, drag-and-drop interface, which removed the need for programming skills or advanced mathematical knowledge, making algorithmic trading more accessible. This approach aimed to provide retail users with capabilities previously reserved for institutional finance. The platform connected directly to users' existing brokerage accounts to execute trades. In a strategic shift in December 2013, the company moved to a freemium business model, offering core features like algorithm building and paper trading for free to attract a wider user base, with paid options for advanced functionalities. The company was eventually acquired by Accrue in April 2015 and is now considered defunct.
