RightBlue Labs Inc., a Toronto-based health technology company, was founded in 2013 by CEO Ronen Benin, a former national-level swimmer and coach. The inspiration for the company stemmed directly from Benin's personal experiences with the challenges of athletic training and burnout, having kept detailed physical training journals during his swimming career. He identified a gap in proactively managing athlete wellness, as insights were often gained only after a crisis had occurred. This led to the creation of RightBlue Labs, co-founded with Daniel Lewis, who brought his expertise in technology and mental health to the role of CTO.
The company's flagship product is the Logit app, a wellness-monitoring suite designed to forecast the risk of illness, injury, and burnout. The platform functions as a digital journal where athletes can quickly report on daily metrics such as stress levels, hydration, nutrition, and exertion. Taking as little as 45 seconds a day, the app uses this self-reported data to establish individual baselines and identify deviations that could signal potential problems. When patterns indicate an increased risk, the system alerts both the athlete and their support network, including coaches and trainers, allowing for preemptive adjustments to training or recovery plans.
Initially targeting amateur and elite sports organizations, the company's client base expanded to include national teams like Hockey Canada and numerous Canadian Olympic athletes. Notably, athletes using the Logit system accounted for 19 of Canada's 22 medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Recognizing broader applications, RightBlue Labs diversified its offerings into four distinct systems: Logit Sport, Logit Fit for fitness centers, Logit Health for medical practices, and Logit Defense for military personnel. The business model appears to be SaaS-based, providing its monitoring systems to these various organizations. The company received funding from the Ontario Centre of Innovation and gained international recognition as the Canadian winner of the Start Tel Aviv competition in 2015. According to some sources, the company is no longer active.
