Reveal Chat was a mobile application that provided an anonymous social platform. Founded by Nick Soman in 2011 and based in Seattle, Washington, the company enabled users to connect and chat anonymously with others. The core feature of the service was that users could begin conversations without revealing their identity and choose to share personal information, such as their name or photo, as trust was established.
The company, formerly known as LikeBright, participated in an accelerator program in 2011. It raised a total of $2 million in funding over two seed rounds. The first round was in September 2014, followed by a $1 million round on April 28, 2015. Investors included M12 (formerly Microsoft Ventures), Techstars, The Gramercy Fund, and Napster.
In April 2015, Reveal Chat was acquired by Rhapsody's Napster in an acqui-hire deal. The acquisition was aimed at integrating the anonymous chat functionality to connect people around music. Prior to this, in 2013, the company had also engaged in a merger/acquisition with MatchMate.
