In 1985, long before the dot-com boom echoed in West Africa, Resourcery Plc started its journey in Nigeria. Initially a small IT firm with just three employees, it focused on PC accessories and training. The company's story began in a market dominated by mainframe computers, but it quickly adapted. Seeing an opportunity in the growing PC market, Resourcery became an authorized distributor for AST Computers. A key pivot came when the company shifted from the price-sensitive PC market to a higher-value proposition: network infrastructure. It became a partner for SYSTIMAX, a major provider of data networking materials, and established itself as a leading systems integrator for major corporations in Nigeria across finance, oil, and manufacturing. After graduating from Stanford in 1993, Tani Fafunwa returned to Nigeria to lead the company's operations, eventually becoming Managing Director. Under his leadership, the company expanded its services to include data security, enterprise hardware, and managed IT support. Over the years, Resourcery became a publicly listed company, paying dividends to shareholders and securing its position as a top regional partner for global tech giants like Cisco. However, the journey wasn't without significant challenges. The company faced major headwinds from foreign exchange losses and the departure of a key customer, which impacted its financial performance and led to shareholder concerns about its future. Despite these difficulties and a change in leadership with Andrew Ejoh taking over as Managing Director in 2022, the company continues to operate, focusing on core services like cybersecurity and data infrastructure in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.
