Report Bee, founded in 2010 by Ananthraman Mani, Bala Ganesh S., Vinod A, and Anjan T, operated as an educational data analytics company based in Chennai, India. The company originated within IIT-Madras in 2011 with a vision to derive actionable insights from educational data. The founders brought diverse experience to the venture; CEO Ananthraman Mani was the former CTO of HeyMath and held roles at IIM Bangalore and NIT Nagpur, while other co-founders had backgrounds from institutions like NIT-Trichy and experience at companies such as Ernst & Young and Wipro Technologies.

The core of Report Bee's business was a cloud-based software platform designed for the K-12 school market. This platform enabled schools to record, analyze, and report on student performance, transforming raw data into visual and interactive digital report cards. Its services aimed to reduce teacher workload in generating reports by up to 80% and provide deep analytics for tracking the academic progress of individual students, classes, and the school as a whole. The business model was based on yearly subscriptions from schools for its software and analytical solutions. Clients included notable institutions such as The Heritage School and Billabong High.

The platform offered several key features. Its 'Insights' module allowed educators to identify high and low-performing students, enabling timely corrective actions. It also provided a parent app for iOS and Android to facilitate communication between schools and parents regarding homework, attendance, and marks. A significant milestone for the company was its acquisition by XSEED Education, a Singapore-based K-12 education company, on January 29, 2019, for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition was a strategic move for XSEED to integrate Report Bee's analytics, reporting, and personalized assessment capabilities into its own platform, thereby creating a more comprehensive educational technology offering. Following the acquisition, the Report Bee founders and key team members joined XSEED's technology product team. Prior to the acquisition, Report Bee had secured funding from investors including Microsoft Accelerator and India Educational Investment Fund.
