Relevel was launched in 2021 by Shashank Murali, Saksham Khandelwal, and Prakash Kumar as a subsidiary of the Unacademy Group. The platform was conceived to address the gap between job seekers' skills and industry requirements, functioning as a skills assessment and job placement platform. The business operated by offering a testing platform where candidates could demonstrate their expertise through a series of assessments to secure employment opportunities with partner companies.
Initially, Relevel provided a free platform for job seekers, monetizing its services by charging a fee to its partner companies for successful hires. This model catered to individuals looking for non-technical roles and companies seeking to streamline their recruitment process. The core offering consisted of a multi-round assessment process, including aptitude tests and interviews, designed to evaluate a candidate's suitability for specific job roles. A key feature was the promise of an interview within 15 days for candidates who cleared the tests.
However, the company faced challenges in placing candidates in non-technical roles, which led to a pivot. Subsequently, Relevel transitioned to offering educational courses and programs to better equip candidates for the job market. Despite these efforts, the platform struggled to find a sustainable product-market fit. In a significant development, the Unacademy Group announced the cessation of operations for Relevel in March 2023 and absorbed its remaining team into other parts of the organization.
