The story of Real Green Systems starts in the early 1980s, not with software, but with soil. Joe Kucik started a lawn care company and quickly discovered the biggest challenge wasn't the lawns themselves, but the mountain of paperwork needed to manage the business. Tired of inefficiently tracking jobs with handwritten route cards, Joe and his brother, a programmer, developed their own software solution. This tool, born from necessity, was designed to solve the real-world problems of a service business. What began as an in-house tool soon caught the attention of other local lawn care professionals who wanted to manage their own operations more efficiently. This sparked the transition from a lawn care company to a software company. Real Green Systems was founded, specializing in software and marketing for service industries like lawn care, landscaping, and pest control. Their flagship product, Service Assistant, became a key customer relationship management tool for thousands of companies. After decades of steady growth, the company reached a major milestone. In June 2021, Real Green was acquired by WorkWave, another major player in field service software. The move was described as a combination of two market leaders, aiming to merge their respective expertise. Founder Joe Kucik, along with other investors, rolled equity into the new combined entity, signaling a continued belief in the platform's future within the larger WorkWave ecosystem.
