Radius Intelligence, Inc. operated as a provider of a predictive marketing software platform designed to help B2B companies find and target their most likely customers. Founded in October 2008 by Darian Shirazi, Adrian Druzgalski, and T. Noah Hayes, the company was initially known as Fwix, a service that aggregated data to profile local businesses, before rebranding as Radius in 2012 to focus on sales intelligence for the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market.
The founder, Darian Shirazi, had a notable background in the tech industry, having been one of the first ten hires at Facebook and an intern at eBay. He left his role as a software engineer at Facebook and briefly studied at UC Berkeley before pursuing his own entrepreneurial ventures, leveraging his experience to build Radius. The company's mission was to address the lack of reliable data in the SMB space, which constitutes a significant portion of the U.S. economy.
Radius developed a cloud-based platform, the Radius Intelligence Cloud, which tracked billions of data points on millions of businesses. This platform integrated with clients' CRM systems, like Salesforce, to analyze customer data against public, government, and partner data sources. The core offering was a B2B Customer Data Platform (CDP) that provided services such as data stewardship, outbound marketing and prospecting, and account-based marketing. Its products, including Radius Prospector and Radius Connect, allowed sales and marketing teams to identify new prospects, prioritize leads based on predictive scoring, and access accurate contact information directly within their workflow. Revenue was generated through a subscription model, with prices starting at $99 per user per month in its earlier days.
Over its lifetime, Radius raised significant venture capital, totaling over $100 million from investors like Founders Fund, American Express Ventures, BlueRun Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures. In September 2019, the assets of Radius Intelligence were acquired by Kabbage, a data and technology company focused on providing cash flow solutions to small businesses. The acquisition was a strategic move for Kabbage to enhance its own data-driven platform by integrating Radius's data on over 20 million U.S. small businesses, thereby improving its ability to analyze and serve this market. Following the acquisition, nearly 20 Radius team members, including then-CEO Joel Carusone, joined Kabbage.
