Racional
Mobile platform for stock and ETF investments.
In early 2020, Boris Garafulic Domínguez founded the Chilean fintech company Racional with a clear goal: to break down the barriers that kept everyday people from investing. At the time, the Chilean investment landscape was dominated by traditional methods that were often inaccessible and expensive for small investors. Garafulic saw an opportunity to offer a simple, digital-first solution. Racional started by offering customized ETFs, and by November 2020, it had already attracted five thousand users. A key moment in the company's growth came at the end of 2021 with the launch of Racional Stocks, a product that enabled users to buy shares directly from the U.S. stock market. This move significantly expanded its user base. Another significant event was the acquisition of a 20% stake by the Chilean insurtech unicorn Betterfly, which also led to Betterfly's CFO joining Racional's board. In December 2022, Racional secured a $2 million funding round led by Genesis Ventures and Amarena. This capital was earmarked for team expansion and to fuel its entry into other Latin American markets, specifically Brazil and Colombia. The company has also been focused on integrating social features, allowing users to connect and learn from each other's investment strategies, aiming to build a community around investing.
