Qwinix Technologies, founded in 2012 by Darshan Puttannaiah, established itself as a cloud-native consultancy headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Puttannaiah, a seasoned systems engineer with experience at major firms like TIAA-CREF and NTT DATA, leveraged his extensive background to guide the company's focus on enterprise technology solutions. Qwinix specialized in providing a comprehensive suite of cloud services, focusing primarily on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) after becoming a consulting partner in 2019.
The company's business model centered on project-based consulting and managed services for mid-market and enterprise clients. Its core service offerings included cloud infrastructure modernization, custom application and product engineering, DevOps transformation, and data engineering, which encompassed machine learning, AI, and analytics. Qwinix assisted clients in migrating to the cloud, developing digital experiences, and strategically adopting cloud solutions to drive business transformation. This strategy was designed to help businesses, regardless of their industry, leverage data and become more like software companies.
A significant milestone occurred in early 2021 when Qwinix merged with Cloudbakers, another prominent Google Cloud Premier Partner. This merger, driven by a growth equity investment from Sunstone Partners, was a strategic move to create one of the largest and most comprehensive Google Cloud-focused service providers in the ecosystem. The combined entity aimed to offer end-to-end professional and managed services for both Google Workspace and the Google Cloud Platform. Following the merger, in January 2022, the consolidated company was rebranded as 66degrees to reflect its expanded capabilities. Darshan Puttannaiah transitioned from his role as founder and CEO of Qwinix to become the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the new entity, 66degrees.
