The story of Questionmark begins not in a garage, but with a piece of software written in 1988 by its founder, John Kleeman. Kleeman developed the initial software system, and from there, established the company to market and further develop what would become a pioneering platform in the world of online assessments. The business provided tools for organizations to create, deliver, and analyze tests, measuring knowledge and skills for certifications and corporate training. For years, the company grew, establishing itself as a key player in its niche. A significant turning point came in 2016 when FPE Capital, a specialist growth investor, provided a major capital injection. At the time, while the company's technology was robust, its growth had become static. This investment facilitated a founder transition, brought in a new CEO, and funded a crucial migration to a single SaaS platform, modernizing its technology and expanding its go-to-market strategy. The final chapter of its independent journey was written in June 2021, when Questionmark was acquired by Learnosity, a leading provider of assessment infrastructure. This acquisition created a powerhouse in the assessment technology market, combining Questionmark's end-to-end platform with Learnosity's expertise. Questionmark now operates as a division within the Learnosity group, continuing its mission under a new, larger umbrella.
