In 1978, a small, family-owned drywall business was established in Southern Wisconsin. This company, Suburban Drywall, began with a singular focus on drywall services. Over the next four decades, the company methodically expanded its capabilities, adding insulation services in 1999, painting and staining in 2002, and steel stud framing in 2009. This strategic growth transformed it from a niche service provider into a comprehensive construction finishes leader in its region. The company's playbook took a significant turn in May 2019 when it was acquired by the private equity firm High Street Capital. This event marked the beginning of a new chapter, shifting from a family-owned operation to a private equity-backed platform poised for accelerated growth. Under this new ownership, Suburban Drywall made its own strategic acquisition in May 2022, purchasing Applewood Drywall to deepen its market capabilities. The final chapter, for now, was written in July 2024. Suburban Drywall was acquired again, this time by the family office AVALT and VantEdge Partners. This transaction established the company as a platform for a broader, acquisition-driven strategy, aiming to expand its geographical footprint beyond Wisconsin.
