Qstorage, operated by Qubiz Korea Co., Ltd., is a prop-tech company specializing in self-storage services. Founded in 2015 by co-founders Changwook Lee, Chan-ki Hong, and Soohong Park, the company addresses the rising demand for storage space in urban environments, driven by an increase in single-person households and small businesses in South Korea.
The company operates a platform that connects users needing storage with available warehouse space, offering optimized, accessible, and automated solutions. Qstorage has distinguished itself by pioneering a fully unmanned and automated warehouse system. This technology manages everything from temperature and humidity control to access, security, and remote, non-contact customer contracts via kiosks and chatbot systems. In 2019, it developed an unmanned kiosk electronic contract system using blockchain and voice recognition technology. In March 2020, Qubiz Korea secured a KRW 4 billion investment from NHN to expand its operations.
The business model is based on renting secure, private storage units of various sizes to customers on a flexible-term basis, starting from a minimum of 15 days. Clients can access their units 24/7 using a security PIN. Revenue is generated from monthly rental fees, which vary by unit size, and also from the storage of individual items like boxes, luggage, and bicycles. Qstorage operates numerous branches in key areas of Seoul and its surrounding regions, including Gangnam, Yeongdeungpo, and Gwanghwamun.
