QBCo

QBCo, also known as Quality Brands Company, is a Colombian company specializing in the development and manufacturing of private-label food products for other brands. Founded in 1961 by Iván Hoyos as an oils and fats company, it pivoted in 2013 to focus on the private-label market. This strategic shift was driven by the growth of discount retailers in Colombia, creating significant demand for store-brand goods.

The company serves a wide range of clients, from large retail chains and supermarkets like D1, Ara, Éxito, and PriceSmart to institutional clients such as Crepes & Waffles. Its business model is centered on being a strategic partner for these businesses, handling the entire production process from initial concept and product development to manufacturing and packaging. This allows clients to focus on marketing and growing their own brands. QBCo's product portfolio is diverse, including sauces, edible oils, margarines, beverages, dairy products, processed meats, jams, and pet food.

In 2017, the Dubai-based private equity firm The Abraaj Group acquired a majority stake in QBCo to fuel its expansion and capitalize on the growing private-label market. Under the leadership of Chairman of the Board Carlos Payán, the company has continued to grow, acquiring companies in categories like canned goods and preserves and expanding its production capabilities. QBCo operates multiple production plants in Colombia, including facilities in Buga, Rionegro, and Tocancipá, each specializing in different product categories like dairy, meats, and oils. The company holds several quality certifications, including ISO 9001, and serves markets in Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, and the United States.
