PYRATEX® operates as a research and development company and textile supplier with a clear mission: to replace synthetic fabrics with high-performance, natural, and responsible alternatives. Founded in 2014 by Regina Polanco, the Madrid-headquartered firm was born from her observation of a market gap between functional, synthetic fabrics and natural materials lacking performance qualities. This insight, coupled with a law degree and a multicultural upbringing, led Polanco to embark on a multi-year R&D journey, officially launching her first fabric collections in 2018 after establishing a European supply chain.

PYRATEX®'s core product is a range of knitted fabrics derived from vegetal, upcycled, or biodegradable fibers such as seaweed, bamboo, agricultural waste from bananas, and recycled cotton. The company engineers these materials to retain the natural, inherent properties of the fibers, resulting in textiles with functionalities like UV protection or antibacterial qualities, without the use of chemical finishes. Production is localized in Europe (Spain, Italy, Portugal) and Mexico to maintain a traceable and certified supply chain (GOTS, GRS, OCS) and reduce the carbon footprint. By collaborating with fiber innovators like Circ and Recover™, PYRATEX® has also developed fabrics from recycled polycotton textile waste, further addressing circularity in fashion.
