Pupil AG provides a cloud-based, all-in-one software platform for Swiss elementary and secondary schools. Founded in 2016 by Lukas Lehmann and Arber Wagner, a former teacher, the company developed a modular system to digitize and simplify school operations. The platform integrates over 45 modules designed to manage administrative processes, classroom activities, and communication between teachers, students, and parents. Core features include administration solutions, assessment and support planning, a data-compliant messenger app, and tools for homeschooling.
The company's business model is based on providing its comprehensive suite of tools as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, with hosting in Switzerland to comply with cantonal data protection requirements. Clients are primarily Swiss public schools ("Volksschulen"). The system is designed to be user-friendly and can be integrated with existing applications like Microsoft 365 to avoid redundancies and digitize routine work.
In February 2022, Pupil AG was acquired by the German EdTech company Sdui, as part of Sdui's strategy to become a leading school operating system in Europe. Despite the acquisition, Pupil continues to operate as an independent brand with its software hosted on Swiss servers. Following the merger, co-founder Lukas Lehmann, who previously was Head of Cloud Services at Swisscom, took on the role of Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Sdui, contributing his experience to the broader European platform while remaining involved with Pupil AG.
