Founded in 2001, ProVision Communications established itself as a developer of digital wireless technology before being acquired by Global Invacom on April 1, 2011. Prior to its acquisition, the company was a venture-capital-backed firm that secured funding from investors including Nesta and YFM Equity Partners.

The company's core business involved designing, developing, and licensing wireless, multi-room technologies for high-definition television. Its primary clientele consisted of consumer electronics manufacturers and multinational original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This focus placed ProVision in the business-to-consumer (B2C) electronics and manufacturing sectors, providing the underlying technology for distributing high-definition video within a home environment.

Following its acquisition, ProVision Communications became a unit within Global Invacom, a larger entity specializing in satellite communications equipment. Global Invacom, formed in 2008 from the merger of Global Communications (UK) Ltd and Invacom Ltd, designs, manufactures, and distributes a wide array of satellite communication technologies. The group serves major satellite broadcasters and data over satellite providers, operating manufacturing facilities in several countries. The integration of ProVision allowed Global Invacom to incorporate specialized wireless RF technology into its broader portfolio of satellite ground station equipment, which includes products like antennas, low-noise blocks (LNBs), and transceivers.
