Founded in December 2000 by Symon and Gillian Havenhand, the company was established to fill a market gap created by the closure of several small rolling mills in the Sheffield area. Initially focusing on small-quantity, specialist hand rolling, Pro-Roll set up in the historic Little Matlock Rolling Mill. Pro-Roll provides an integrated suite of manufacturing services for high-performance metals including nickel, cobalt, and titanium alloys, as well as various steels. Its core capability is traditional hot hand rolling, a specialized skill that the company is committed to preserving. Beyond rolling, its services encompass melting, forging, NADCAP-accredited heat treatment, bar straightening, centerless grinding, and various machining processes like peeling and turning. The company also established its own non-destructive testing (NDT) department in 2024 to improve lead times. This comprehensive offering allows Pro-Roll to manage the entire manufacturing chain from melting small-quantity ingots to delivering finished, tested, and custom-packaged products.
