Founded in 2011, Primeloop emerged from Las Vegas as a player in the marketing technology space, initially known as clippPR. The company secured $525K in funding from notable investors including 500 Global (formerly 500 Startups), Tony Hsieh's Vegas Techfund, and Seraph Group.
Primeloop developed a social networking information-tracking tool that allowed users to bookmark, clip, and tag web content. A key function of its platform was a technology described as link retargeting. This enabled advertisers and marketers to create shortened links that would place a cookie on the device of anyone who clicked them. Consequently, these users could be targeted with specific banner advertisements across various publisher and ad network sites, effectively combining the functionalities of a link shortener like Bitly with an ad retargeting service like AdRoll. This service was designed to offer advertisers a more targeted method for reaching audiences, particularly for social media, email, and inbound marketing campaigns, aiming for a superior return on investment compared to broader site-wide retargeting.
The company's primary focus was on developing software as a service (SaaS) for the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors. After several years of operation and developing its intellectual property, Primeloop was acquired by Inbound Retargeting Technologies Inc., the company behind Retarget Links, on November 3, 2016. The acquisition was significantly driven by Primeloop's patent portfolio for link retargeting technology, which its founders had pioneered.
