Pretr Online Services Private Limited operated as an omnichannel marketplace, establishing a connection between online shoppers and physical fashion and lifestyle retail stores in India. The company was founded in 2016 by technology executives Bhavik Jhaveri and Ankur Joshi, with Hemant Ramniklal Jhaveri also listed as a founder. Bhavik Jhaveri, a serial entrepreneur, previously founded Ambab Infotech and held technology leadership roles at companies like Craftsvilla and Deals And You. Ankur Joshi, an IIT Bombay graduate, had experience at Deutsche Bank and founded other startups, including Nuclei.
The Mumbai-based startup aimed to solve the disconnect between a brand's online and offline channels. It provided a platform for consumers to discover products in nearby stores, check availability, reserve items for in-store pickup, or purchase online for same-day delivery. For retailers, Pretr offered a suite of solutions including order management, store analytics, clienteling, and an "Endless Aisle" feature. This feature allowed customers in a physical store to browse a brand's complete inventory, including stock from other locations, and have items shipped to their home or a store of their choice. The business model focused on enhancing the sales and inventory utilization of its retail partners by creating a unified view of inventory across all channels.
In December 2016, Pretr secured $110,000 in a seed funding round from investors including IMAGES Group. A significant milestone occurred in August 2018 when the company was acquired by Myntra, a major fashion e-commerce player owned by Flipkart. The acquisition was a strategic move for Myntra to bolster its omnichannel strategy, integrating Pretr's technology to provide a seamless shopping experience and to partner with brands to connect their online presence with their physical stores.
