Precal

Precal Inc. provides IT services for pharmacies in Japan, focusing on operational efficiency. The company offers "precal," an online service where remote staff handle the data entry of prescriptions, and "Precal RECECON," a cloud-based medical billing computer system that starts with a free monthly plan. This system features an intuitive user interface and is designed to significantly lower implementation costs compared to legacy on-premise systems. By managing prescription input, which can take up to four hours per day per pharmacy, Precal enables pharmacists to concentrate on core duties like dispensing medication and patient counseling.

The company was founded in July 2019 by CEO Yoshiki Osuga. A registered pharmacist with experience at pharmacies, drugstores, and hospitals, Osuga also founded and managed a pharmacy specializing in nursing homes in 2017. This direct experience with the inefficiencies in pharmacy operations, coupled with programming skills acquired at an engineering school, led him to establish Precal. The current product is the result of seven pivots based on feedback from over 100 pharmacies. The company aims to address the challenges of a pharmacist shortage in Japan and improve the overall medical system by creating a more efficient pharmacy environment.
