Bom Pra Crédito operates as a digital credit marketplace in Brazil, connecting consumers seeking loans with a network of over 70 partner financial institutions. The company was established in 2013 by Ricardo Kalichsztein, who leveraged his two decades of experience in the traditional credit market to create a platform aimed at simplifying loan access. Kalichsztein, along with co-founders Daniel Polistchuck and Felipe Lemos, launched the platform, with Eduardo Braz joining as a partner in 2015.
The platform functions by allowing users to fill out a single online application, after which they can receive multiple pre-approved loan offers within minutes. Bom Pra Crédito serves a broad spectrum of clients, including those with poor credit histories, by offering a variety of credit products. These products include personal loans, payroll-deducted loans, and loans secured by assets such as vehicles, real estate, and even mobile phones. The business generates revenue primarily through origination fees paid by the lending institutions for each successful loan facilitated through the platform. It has expanded its model to include a 'credit-as-a-service' offering for Credit Rights Investment Funds (FIDCs), earning a monthly fee for managing performing loan portfolios, which aligns the company's interests with generating high-quality credit.
A significant milestone in the company's history was the merger with Focus Financeira in March 2022, a move designed to combine the marketplace's distribution power with the robustness of a financial institution to develop new products. This led to the creation of the Qista Group in September 2022. Prior to this, the company had secured R$63 million in funding across four rounds, including a notable R$35 million 'media for equity' deal with Grupo Globo in 2019. By June 2021, the platform had intermediated over R$1 billion in loans. In May 2023, the company was acquired by Reag. More recently, Bom Pra Crédito has ventured into digital installment plans (Crediário Digital), partnering with e-commerce platforms like VTEX to offer a digital version of traditional store credit, allowing online shoppers to finance purchases in installments.
