Pouch is a technology company founded in London in 2016 by Ben Corrigan, Jonny Plein, and Vikram Simha. The company developed a free browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari that automatically sources and applies the best available voucher codes at the checkout page of online stores, saving shoppers time and money. The business model is based on receiving a commission from merchants on sales generated through the extension.
The idea originated in 2015 from co-founders Jonny Plein and Ben Corrigan, who sought to improve the user experience of finding discount codes online. They were later joined by Vikram Simha as CTO. Pouch gained significant public attention in 2017 after appearing on the BBC show Dragons' Den, where they received investment offers from all five investors, a rare occurrence on the program. Although the deal ultimately did not go through after filming, the exposure led to a massive increase in users and revenue overnight. The company had previously won the Mass Challenge accelerator program in 2016.
In January 2019, Pouch was acquired by the Munich-based Global Savings Group (GSG), a major international e-commerce and marketing company. The acquisition was a single-digit million-dollar amount with performance-related bonuses. Following the acquisition, the founders continued to work on the product under the GSG umbrella. The tool works with over 3,000 retailers in the UK, and at the time of the acquisition, the co-founders planned to incorporate the technology into GSG's white-label offerings for publishers.
