Playsino operated as a developer and publisher in the social casino gaming sector, providing free-to-play games across social networks and mobile platforms. The company, formerly known as Titan Gaming, developed its own games and also ran the Playsino Publishing Network to fund and market titles from third-party developers. Its gaming portfolio included virtual currency-based casino games like bingo, poker, and slots, accessible on a wide range of devices including desktops, iOS and Android products, and Smart TVs. The business model focused on the high engagement and monetization rates characteristic of social casino gamers.
The company was originally founded as TITAN by Francisco Diaz-Mitoma. In 2012, Brock Pierce, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in virtual goods and online games, took the role of CEO to spearhead new product offerings. The leadership team also included CTO Michael Steuer, a veteran in digital media and mobile gaming, and CEO Alex Kelly, who joined in 2013 from IGT where he was involved in the acquisition of DoubleDown Interactive. Playsino secured a total of $2.5 million in funding over two rounds. The first was a seed round of $1 million in May 2010, followed by a Series A round of $1.5 million in April 2012. Investors included notable venture capital firms like IDM Venture Capital, Pacific Capital Group, Siemer Ventures, and Tomorrow Ventures, alongside several angel investors.
Playsino established partnerships, such as a deal with Dover Downs to launch a Playsino-powered social poker game in 2014. The company gained industry recognition, including a nomination for "Best Social Bingo Operator" at the 2016 EGR North America Awards. However, according to PitchBook, the company is now listed as out of business.
