Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC) is the largest producer of palm oil in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Founded in the 1930s, PHC operates extensive plantations, including the Yaligimba plantation, which spans approximately 8,000 hectares. The company serves a diverse range of clients, including local communities and international markets, by producing high-quality palm oil. PHC's business model focuses on sustainable agribusiness, which not only generates revenue through palm oil sales but also contributes to community development. This includes drilling over 70 boreholes for water access, establishing 15 agricultural producer organizations, and building 20 new schools since 2018. PHC also engages in healthcare initiatives, conducting over 113,000 medical consultations in 2021. The company aims to create shared prosperity through its agribusiness activities, partnering with organizations like the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to enhance food crop seed production.
