Pipemonk, originally established as ZapStitch in 2013, developed a cloud-based data integration platform aimed at simplifying workflow for small and medium-sized businesses. The company was founded in Bengaluru, India by Satya Padmanabham D, Ravi Madabhushi, Rajesh Mallipeddi, and Satya Krishna Ganni. Padmanabham, who had previously founded YourBus which was acquired by ibibo Group, brought entrepreneurial experience to the venture. Ravi Madabhushi had a background as an executive at RedBus.
The firm specialized in providing a platform that automated the flow of data between various cloud-based applications, addressing the problem of data fragmentation. This service allowed businesses to connect disparate Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications—such as those for e-commerce, accounting, CRM, marketing, and helpdesk services—and synchronize data between them within minutes. The key benefit was the elimination of manual data entry and the need for multiple logins, providing seamless access to dynamic data across different systems. The platform was designed to be user-friendly, enabling non-engineers to configure and manage integrations.
Pipemonk operated on a SaaS business model, catering to over 400 clients globally, primarily in North America, Australia, and the UK. The company secured a total of $2.17 million in funding over two rounds. A seed round in April 2014 was followed by a $2 million Series A round in May 2015, with investors including Helion Venture Partners and Orios Venture Partners. In January 2017, Pipemonk was acquired by Freshdesk (now Freshworks) for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition was a strategic move by Freshdesk to bolster its own integration capabilities and create a more interconnected ecosystem of its product suite with third-party applications. The 13-member Pipemonk team was integrated into Freshdesk to work on these enhancements.
