Peeeks

Peeeks was a Dutch technology company established in 2015 by founders Wouter Smit and Jorrit Lucas, with other key individuals including David Beijer and Wouter Robers. The founding team included individuals previously responsible for the start-up Epyon, a developer of fast chargers for electric cars that was acquired in 2011. The firm originated from the YES!Delft incubator, which is associated with the Delft University of Technology.

The company focused on developing smart technology for the residential energy sector, addressing heating, electric mobility, solar production, and storage. Peeeks operated on a business-to-business model, supplying its energy management solutions to its primary shareholder, Eneco, and other utility partners across the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium. The core of its business was an IoT platform designed to balance energy supply and demand by intelligently shifting the consumption of electrical devices. This system monitored real-time electricity prices, automatically switching devices on or off to capitalize on lower-cost periods, which could reduce energy bills for end-users by up to 40%.

Peeeks offered several distinct solutions. Its Home Energy Management System (HEMS) platform managed residential solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps to provide ancillary services. The Smart Boiler Module created energy savings and provided flexible capacity to energy trading markets. Additionally, the company developed solutions for smart district heating and wind curtailment for Eneco's trading department. In 2017, Eneco acquired the company, and by 2021, Peeeks' business activities were fully integrated into Eneco’s Energy Management Solutions (EMS) department.
