Paint by Conran

Paint by Conran was a luxury interior paint brand launched in 2014 as a collaboration between the renowned British designer Sir Terence Conran and Master Paintmakers. The company, headquartered in Stratford-upon-Avon, was established to meet the demand in the premium paint market. The brand's creation was deeply personal for Conran, whose father was a paint maker. The product line featured 96 paint colors available in finishes like matt emulsion, organized into five collections inspired by the British landscape: Kitchen Garden, Cottage Garden, Harvest, Highland, and Orchard. These collections were designed to complement the furniture, lighting, and accessories from Conran's other ventures.

The venture was set up as a brand house for designer decorative paint under Master Paintmakers Limited, founded by David Roberts. The water-based paints were manufactured in the UK by Trimite Global Coatings, a partner with over 120 years of experience, ensuring high quality, durability, and compliance with environmental standards. The business model focused on selling directly to consumers through its website and through independent retailers and specialist stockists, with paint dispatched directly from the manufacturing plant. The company secured £1.55M in funding, including a significant investment in 2015 to expand its distributor network and marketing efforts to architects and designers. Despite its premium positioning and the strength of the Conran brand, PitchBook data indicates the company was out of business as of May 2018.
