OverActive Media (OAM) is a global esports and entertainment company. It was founded in 2017 by Sheldon Pollack and Babak Pedram and was originally known as The Ledger Group, a Toronto-based company focused on blockchain-enabled companies. In April 2018, the company announced that it would look to invest in the esports industry, and it rebranded as OverActive Media.
OAM owns and operates a number of esports teams, including the Toronto Defiant (Overwatch League), Toronto Ultra (Call of Duty League), and Movistar KOI (League of Legends European Championship and Valorant Champions Tour). The company also owns and operates a number of esports venues, including the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto and the Movistar eSports Center in Madrid.
OAM's business model is based on a number of revenue streams, including sponsorships, advertising, merchandise sales, and ticket sales. The company has a number of high-profile sponsors, including Bell, Canon, and Universal Music Group. OAM also has a number of media rights deals in place, including a deal with Bell Media to broadcast its esports events in Canada.
