OSI Systems

In 1987, Deepak Chopra founded a company that would become OSI Systems. Initially focused on optoelectronics, the company supplied specialized electronic components to various industries. This foundation in electronic systems set the stage for future growth and diversification. A pivotal moment in the company's journey was its initial public offering (IPO) on October 2, 1997, trading under the ticker symbol OSIS. This event provided the capital for a series of strategic acquisitions that would fundamentally shape the company's future. Through key acquisitions like Rapiscan Security Systems and Spacelabs Medical, OSI Systems expanded its footprint into the security and healthcare sectors. These moves transformed it from a component manufacturer into a diversified technology company with three core divisions: Security, Healthcare, and Optoelectronics and Manufacturing. Today, the Security division provides a range of inspection systems for aviation, ports, and borders. The Healthcare division focuses on patient monitoring and diagnostic equipment, while the Optoelectronics division continues to produce critical electronic components.
