Orah provides a student life platform designed for independent and private schools to manage attendance, safety, and student well-being. Formerly known as Boardingware, the company rebranded to Orah to reflect its broader mission of helping schools maximize student potential. The platform's software suite enables schools to track student locations in real-time, manage leave requests, streamline attendance, and handle communications between staff, students, and parents.

The company was co-founded in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2013 by Paul Organ and Kurt Meyer. Organ, who was studying for a Masters of Architecture, and Meyer developed the concept out of their own experiences. The company has since grown to serve over 500 independent schools and 150,000 students worldwide. In November 2024, Matt Varley, a former executive at Xplor Technologies, was appointed CEO to guide the company through its next growth phase.

Orah operates on a SaaS business model, providing its platform to educational institutions. Its key features include modules for attendance, student well-being, communications, event management, and emergency response. The system integrates with existing Student Information Systems (SIS) like PowerSchool, FACTS, and Veracross to synchronize data and reduce administrative tasks. The platform is designed to be compliant with various data privacy and safety standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO/IEC 27001.
