Optiant, founded in 2000, specialized in providing sophisticated supply chain optimization software. The company's technology was originally developed by researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, establishing a strong foundation in advanced analytics. One of the co-founders was John Ruark, who served as the company's Chief Technology Officer.

In March 2010, Optiant was acquired by Logility, Inc., a supplier of collaborative supply chain solutions, for approximately $3.3 million in cash. Following the acquisition, Optiant's technology was integrated into Logility's Voyager Solutions suite and rebranded as Voyager Inventory Optimization. The deal also saw Optiant's sales, support, and development teams join Logility, ensuring continuity and expertise. This strategic move allowed Logility to enhance its product suite with specialized inventory optimization capabilities, offering it as either a standalone solution or as part of a comprehensive supply chain management package.
