OpenMarket, once a significant entity in mobile engagement solutions, now operates under the Infobip brand following its acquisition in 2020. The company's history traces back to 1999, initially as part of Qpass, a firm specializing in electronic payment infrastructure. A key development occurred in 2006 when Amdocs acquired Qpass and established OpenMarket as a distinct division focused on enterprise mobile services. Further expansion came in 2010 with Amdocs' acquisition of MX Telecom, a mobile messaging and payments aggregator, which was integrated into the OpenMarket business to broaden its international reach.

In November 2020, Croatian cloud communications company Infobip entered a definitive agreement to acquire OpenMarket from Amdocs for approximately $300 million in cash. This strategic move was aimed at creating a global powerhouse in cloud communications, combining OpenMarket's strong presence in the U.S. market with Infobip's extensive international network. The combination was projected to handle over 14 billion customer interactions monthly across more than 190 countries.

The integration into Infobip, a company founded in 2006 by Silvio Kutić, Izabel Jelenić, and Roberto Kutić, has absorbed OpenMarket's services into a broader Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) offering. Infobip provides a unified platform for omnichannel engagement, enabling businesses to connect with customers via SMS, MMS, RCS, email, voice, and chat apps. The business model primarily relies on usage-based pricing, where clients are charged based on the volume of messages or calls, though subscription plans for premium features are also available. This platform serves a wide range of industries, including financial services, retail, and technology, helping them with customer support, marketing, security authentication, and operational notifications.
