OnTracks, founded in 2016 by Philippe Leca in Marseille, France, developed activity trackers with a multi-use navigation system. The company's core product consisted of a set of two vibrating watches, called GuideWatches, worn on each wrist. These devices connected to a smartphone and guided users along a pre-selected route by vibrating on the corresponding wrist for turns, allowing users to navigate without looking at a map. The system was designed for a variety of activities, including running, hiking, cycling, and motorcycling.
The GuideWatches offered more than just GPS guidance; they also functioned as activity trackers, monitoring metrics like steps, distance, elevation, and heart rate. All the data and statistics were accessible through a companion mobile application available for both Android and iOS platforms. The product was offered in different packages, such as the "Active pack" which included the guide watches and heart-rate sensors, and a "Mobile pack" with adaptors for handlebars to provide navigation through vibrations for cycling and biking activities.
OnTracks secured $1.18 million in a single seed funding round on June 14, 2018. Key investors included Bpifrance, Grand Delta Angels, and P. Factory. Despite this initial investment and its product concept, the company is now listed as deadpooled or out of business.
